THINKING ABOUT RV SKIRTING?
Here are the questions we get the most:

Let our decades of experience guide you.

If you can't find the answers you are looking for here feel free to reach out to us directly.

OVERVIEW

Our skirting will hold air better than any other RV skirting on the market. This does involve the application of aluminum channel to the side of the RV. It is done as discreetly as possible, and all screw holes are sealed with RTV silicon. The panels are designed to be installed by an individual, but a team of two will enjoy a very satisfying, straight forward experience as everything slides into place. All panels are numbered, starting at your door and going counter clockwise around the RV. They attach to each other via 2" wide hook-and-loop panel. All hardware is hardened stainless steel.

We strive to create the cleanest lines possible on every RV. We will create access through the skirt to absolutely everything we see. Crawl space access is built into the skirt at each end of each slide out, and a large zipper to open up the area under the 5th wheel is included.

We provide abrasion protection anywhere the skirt may contact a sharp edge on the RV, nylon or vinyl gaskets around penetrations through the skirt (trailer hitches, ladder brackets, etc.), and tear proof corner reinforcement. There are a lot of details on our product that do not exist on other skirts and especially on mail order kits.

On the side walls of the slide outs, we use hook and loop fastening panels wrapped around a 3/32" piece of aluminum, to attach the skirt to the RV. This is fixed to the RV in the same manner as the channel. This is far more robust than adhesive backed hook-and-loop, is gentle on rubber seals, and removes the need for any button snaps, thus forming the continuation of our No-Snap, No-Gap system.

Your skirting is made with 14"+ of extra length, so it will always reach the ground.

Our skirting is backed up by a 3 year warranty. All blueprints are stored indefinitely. Replacement panels can be plotted, sent to the sewing team, and shipped off within a matter of days.

Keep in mind we are based out of Rapid City, SD, and 75% of our orders are received after Labor Day.. Each skirt's dimensions are tailored to fit one RV - yours! We do not mass produce skirting from measurements taken from only one RV. You'd be surprised how much two "identical" RV's can actually vary.

FAQ

WHAT COLORS DO YOU OFFER?

We offer seven colors:
Black, Charcoal, Light Grey, Dark Chocolate Brown, Light Brown, Burgundy, Royal Blue.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED?

We use 18oz vinyl coated polyester that is designed not to crack in cold temperatures down to -40 degrees. The Velcro, zippers and thread are all designed for outdoor use and UV exposure. Our channel is made of extruded aluminum. All accessory hardware is stainless steel.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY SKIRT?

The main factors that affect the timeline are:

  • Location: Long distance work requires lengthy drives between numerous jobs. We also prioritize our local customers and those who have driven to visit us.

  • Season: Fall brings shorter days, more inclement weather, and an explosion in order volume. All bad for turnaround times.

We can build you a skirt in a few days if you come stay at our RV park, Black Hawk Creek RV Park & Cabins. Conversely, an order placed in North Dakota in October will take 4 to 8 weeks to fulfill. Each order is made specifically for your RV.

WE NEED SNAPS TO SECURE OUR SKIRT CAN YOU PLACE THEM?

The only button snap tools we carry are for removing them.

NO SNAPS, NO GAPS, WHAT'S THAT?

As of 2017, our skirting contains no button snaps, no turnbuckles, and no unprotected holes in your RV not accompanied by RTV silicon. The perimeter of the skirt is 99% sealed off to the RV, without the air gaps found on button snap skirting.

IS YOUR SKIRTING INSULATED?

Our vinyl skirting is not insulated. Dead air space is one of the best insulators available, and nothing will trap air under your RV like our skirting. Customers with four-seasons RVs will find that the heating and insulation built into the belly of their rig works far better with our skirting installed. Many RVers will keep a small space heater under the RV for the coldest nights.

IS YOUR SKIRTING PORTABLE?

Our skirting is designed to be rolled up and taken to the next job or campsite. Each skirt comes in a transportation bag, and weighs 70-100lbs.

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY SKIRT?

We recommend warm soapy water, no pressure washers, and letting it dry completely.

I HAVE NOT GOTTEN A CALL BACK WHERE ARE YOU?

Hopefully this FAQ has helped with some of your questions. When things get busy during the fall, we cannot possibly answer every call right away. Repeatedly dialing our number while we're helping another customer (or sleeping) is not helpful.

WHERE DO YOU TRAVEL?

Our customers who come to us will always have the best experience. If that's not a possibility for you, we will come to: Western ND, Eastern WY, Front Range, CO, and NW Iowa (pending enough deposits).

WE HAVE A LARGE GROUP, CAN WE GET A DISCOUNT?

Of course! But only if everyone in your group is set up with an invoice and deposit before we arrive.

HOW DO YOU HOLD THE SKIRT TO THE GROUND?

All of our skirting comes with tarp clips and galvanized spikes. For hard or very soft surfaces, we recommend water weights or sand bags. We will provide replacement clips and spikes, just pay shipping.

WILL I LOOSE ACCESS TO ANYTHING?

On a modern 5th wheel or travel trailer, no. We provide access to anything you might need to reach under the RV (valves, hookups, etc.) and route the skirt so it won't impede your storage compartments. Toy hauler doors retain their functionality with the skirt installed.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE THE 5TH WHEEL?

Two designs are used around the 5th wheel hitch. Whenever possible, we'll create a pleated panel that drapes out over the hitch. Sometimes the RV design necessitates having the hitch "poke through" the front of the skirt. In 2023 we introduced a panel just for Air-Ride setups.

CAN I PARK MY MOTORCYCLE OR ATV UNDER THE FIFTH WHEEL?

On most modern RVs it will fit! We will make the skirted space underneath as large as possible. A second zipper door on the driver's side for pull through access is available.

WHY ARE ONLINE SKIRTING KITS SO MUCH CHEAPER?

There is so much more work involved in our tailored skirting than may meet the eye. Professional installation of a warrantied product does not come cheap. Material, travel and shipping costs increase every year.

DO YOU SKIRT MOTORHOMES?

We will consider doing class A and C motorhomes if they are brought to us during the spring/summer. There will be a consultation before we do any work. It will cost at least $1000 more than a comparable 5th wheel. We withhold the right to decline the job and refund your deposit. Please send pictures and speak directly with our production team to price your rig.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?

We ask all customers to fill out our quote form in order to efficiently communicate the necessary information. After that, give us a call and we'll get you on the schedule! We can offer appointments any time at our campground. For on-site skirting, approximate dates are all we can offer due to the variables involved.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO ORDER?

Before your pipes freeze. Things get extremely busy for us in September and October when temperatures drop below freezing at night. Customers who visit our RV park or call early will always have the best experiences. Those waiting until fall to order will face lengthy and uncertain turnaround times.

DO YOU CHARGE A WINTER RATE?

Long distance orders received late in the year will receive an upcharge.

WHAT IS YOUR RV PARK LIKE?

Black Hawk Creek RV Park & Cabins is improving by the day. It is quiet property, just a couple miles from I-90 (exit 52 or 55), and provides pull-through and back-in 50amp spots large enough to fit any RV. Your stay at Black Hawk Creek RV Park is included with any full skirting order. Book your stay for either the play and stay package or opt for the fit and ship if you are in a rush.
